With 50 years training in the martial arts Hanshi Buchan has worked to develop a complete self-defense system and currently teaches at the International Hombu Dojo in Ontario Canada. His 9th Dan grandmaster rank is recognized through the International Martial Arts & Culture Federation of Japan and is signed by the Vice Minister of Defense, Japan. He has trained Special Forces as well as law enforcement personnel from various police services including major crime squads and tactical officers internationally.
Grandmaster Buchan founded Kosho Ryu International Martial Arts Organization in 1992. The organization was founded to preserve the teachings of 750 year old ancient combat concepts. During the last four decades of study he has worked hard to form and combined these ancient concepts with modern combat principles capturing the essence of knowledge that unites many art forms of self-defense.
With a history of service in the military and many years traveling and learning , Grandmaster Buchan has full extensive training in the area of hand-to-hand combat and weapons techniques with – Navy Seals, US Marines, Canadian Armed Forces and many martial art grand masters around the world.
Grandmaster Buchan’s formal martial arts study is in Kosho Shorei Ryu, Brazilian Ju Jitsu, Arnis, Kyusho Jitsu,Special Forces combat training & the use of improvised weapons. He has trained martial arts organizations, security companies, Special Forces and law enforcement personnel from various police services including major crime squads and tactical officers in many countries.
